Marilyn Monroe Reincarnated

This site was commissioned by a psychiatrist to promote the unusual premise that his work in past-life regression therapy had revealed the reincarnation of Marilyn Monroe. We began by assisting the client in extracting some of his domain names from an unscrupulous vendor and convincing him to undo some of the damage done by a prior "design company." This company had charged exorbitant amounts, then proceeded to put up a "pre-fab" site using a free, shoddy template and an old ramshackle content management system, without customization and with debilitating usability problems. A simple facelift would have been insufficient, and perhaps impossible; an entirely new site had to built. The client's old site was a shocking mishmash of colors, font styles, broken links, incomprehensible navigation, and clutter. The unscrupulous "design company" had failed to remove many of the built-in sample content that came with the shoddy software they had built it on, including links to spam sites and a bizarrely irrelevant poll about the computer business:

All of the client's content was on one page, the home page, and it was impossible to navigate any of it. As you can see from this actual image of the homepage, split apart to fit here, the home page was dozens of screens long:

We created a brand-new site built on the modern content-management-system Drupal, included several custom modules such as the emailable-book-excerpt feature we wrote for the "A Victim No More" site, and provided a system the author could use to blog, send newsletters, and otherwise organize all his frequent writings into discrete categories and easy-to-find site areas. Existing content was arranged into the new structure. He is free to use his site to promote his work and his book in any way he sees fit--including an unusal penchant for writing in all capitals and odd colors. (We always provide free consultation in how best to use a new dynamic website, but our advice is not always followed.)

To appeal to his audience of spiritual-healing seekers, we presented a design with a luminous quality in the header and traditional colors of healing. The front page holds important resume information (at the client's request), plus a summary of his writing and work, and an embedded video of his public appearances, along with a prominent newsletter-subscription form and lins to recent content.

This site is "dynamic" site, where all pages are generated on the fly from database content, and the site administered through a special administration area. Whenever assistance is needed, or new features, or video drawn from a promotional DVD for online display, we are standing by to handle it for the client.
