A Victim No More

This site was commissioned by an author who wanted a feature-rich online presence through which to promote her book of the same title, her inspirational message, and her visibility as an expert. Several design concepts were presented, and this one was chosen by the client. She wanted a more magazine-ad style look, a little more visually busy than we normally recommend, but appropriate for her marketing approach.

The site has email newsletters, categorized links to favorite sites, reader-submitted reviews and comments, and more. Some features required us to program custom add-on modules. For example, it features emailable book excerpts, which visitors can read, cycle through, and click on to email to friends, thereby serving as an effective word-of-mouth tool:

Each book excerpt is entered by author, and like all the other site content, she can add, subtract, or edit them at will. The site also makes judicious use of Flash animation to accent certain news or content. One example:

As a "dynamic," database-driven site, the client is in full control of site content and may update it at will--promote it, add fresh content, or leave it alone as she wishes. All pages are generated on the fly based on the updates and published content, with no need for our intervention, except for administrative advice and guidance, and the occasional custom-coded add-on module as a separately-billed project.
